Located in the north of the Aegean Sea as the third biggest island of Turkey in Çanakkale Province, Bozcaada hosted the New Balance Bozcaada Half Marathon & 10K Run on May 14, 2011 Saturday. This race, which was held by YarışTakvimi and New Balance with the contributions of Bozcaada Municipality and Bozcaada District Governorship, is included in 2011 calendar of the Turkish Athletic Federation (TAF) and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS)

Hosting approximately 1500-2000 people in total - 700 registered runners and other people accompanying the runners - New Balance Bozcaada Half Marathon & 10K Run claims its notable place in the history of Bozcaada. Many domestic and foreign athletes attended the international run, which took place for the first time. One of the most gladsome aspects of the run was that the average rate of female footrace attendants in Turkey increased to 32% from 15% - a considerable increase for the first time. Although athletes from Istanbul were in a majority, the run attracted participation also from İzmir, Bursa, Ankara, Kütahya, Adana, Çanakkale, Diyarbakır, Tekirdağ, Kırklareli, Kocaeli, Yalova, Batman, Manisa, Mersin, Denizli, Antalya and Tarsus. In addition to individual athletes, several clubs and institutions took part in the run

In the run, there were five athletes in charge of speeding up the run. At the beginning of the run, they carried balloons on which their times were written. They ran as a team together with the athletes running at those times. That the run took place in Saturday enabled the athletes to have a great time in Bozcaada in the same evening. All streets and coastal restaurants of Bozcaada were populated with the enthusiasm of the athletes. As the most critical and exacting part of the run, time calculations were performed by Champion Chip. Besides New Balance as the main sponsor, the run was sponsored by Polar and Powerade.
